See, Quicktime has this "A/V Controls" window. Other players might have a similar feature, but I haven't looked into it. The A/V controls include what you'd expect: brightness, contrast, color, and tint. And while these are useful for bringing the details back to a murky underlit shot, that's not the main thing I like. My favorite control is the speed control: this slider allows you to adjust the playback speed anywhere from 1/2 speed to 3x speed. And while turning any vid into a Benny Hill rerun may turn some of y'all on, for me it's the other direction that gets me going.

What I usually do is knock it down to about 3/4 speed. Quicktime does a good job of keeping it from looking too choppy, and it also shifts the audio so that it doesn't sound lower, just slower. Girls still sound like girls, just the length of each moan is stretched out. The effect is passable and within a few seconds I can imagine I'm watching an unaltered vid.
But what is the point? The point is that you play some of your favorite clips, the ones you've seen 1000 times before, and you breath fresh life into them. I imagine this trick only works if I don't overuse it. But it's a good tool in the toolbox for nights like tonight.
